Central Armed Police Forces Examination
Purpose
- The Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) Examination is a national-level recruitment exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to select candidates for various posts in the Central Armed Police Forces.

Elgibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university or institution.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be between 20 to 25 years of age on the 1st of August of the exam year. Age relaxations are applicable for candidates from reserved categories.
- Physical Standards: Candidates must meet the physical fitness criteria set by the UPSC, which includes requirements for height, weight, chest, and eyesight.

Exam Structure
- General Knowledge (GK): This section covers questions on Tamil Nadu’s history, culture, current events, and general science. Being aware of state-specific news is important.
- Aptitude and Mental Ability: Includes logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, data interpretation, and verbal ability. Common topics are numerical series, arithmetic, basic algebra, and logical puzzles.
- Comprehension and English Language: Reading passages, understanding questions, and grammar.

- Male: 165 cm
- Female: 157 cm
Chest:
- Male: 81 cm (unexpanded), 85 cm (expanded)
- Female: 76 cm (unexpanded), 80 cm (expanded)
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) includes:
- Race: 100 meters, 800 meters, and 1500 meters based on age and gender.
- Long Jump: 3.5 meters (for men) and 3 meters (for women).
- High Jump: 1.05 meters (for men) and 0.9 meters (for women).

Salary and Benefits
- Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs: The post carries pay scale of Level-6 (Rs.35,400-Rs.1,12,400/-) and is classified as Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted), Non-Ministerial.
- Sub-Inspector (Executive) – (Male/Female) in Delhi Police: The post carries pay scale of Level-6 (Rs.35,400-Rs.1,12,400/-) and is classified as Group ‘C’ by Delhi Police.
