GD Constable

Purpose

  • The SSC GD Constable Exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for the post of General Duty (GD) Constable in various forces such as (BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NCB, SSF).

Exam Structure

  • Computer-Based Examination (CBE)

    • Mode: Online (Objective-type questions)
    • Total Marks: 160
    • Total Questions: 80
    • Duration: 1 hour (60 minutes)
    • Negative Marking: 0.50 marks for each wrong answer
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  • Physical Standard Test (PST)
  • Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

Height

  • Male Candidates:

    • General, OBC, SC: 170 cm
    • ST: 162.5 cm
  • Female Candidates:

    • General, OBC, SC: 157 cm
    • ST: 150 cm
  • Chest (for Male Candidates only)

    • General, OBC, SC: 80 cm (unexpanded), 85 cm (expanded)
    • ST: 76 cm (unexpanded), 81 cm (expanded)

Syllabus

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: Logical reasoning, puzzles, number series, coding-decoding, etc.
  • General Awareness: Current events, history, geography, polity, economy, and science.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and data interpretation.
  • English Language: Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills.

Salary and Benefits

  • The salary of an SSC GD Constable is governed by the 7th Pay Commission, and they fall under Pay Level-3.

    Basic Pay

    • ₹21,700 – ₹69,100 per month
  • Deductions
