SSC- Junior Engineer

Purpose

  • The SSC Junior Engineer (JE) exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for various engineering posts in government departments and organizations. This exam is for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Quantity Surveying & Contracts engineers.

Elgibility Criteria

  • Eligibility:

Exam Structure

  • Paper 1: Computer-Based Test (Objective Type)
  • Paper 2: Descriptive Test (Written)
  • Total Marks: 200
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

  • Stage 1: Paper 1 (Computer-Based Test – Objective Type)
  • Stage 2: Paper 2 (Descriptive Test – Subject-Specific)
  • Stage 3: Document Verification (DV)

Syllabus

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: Logical reasoning, puzzles, number series, coding-decoding, etc.
  • General Awareness: Current events, history, geography, polity, economy, and science.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and data interpretation.
  • English Language: Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills.

Salary and Benefits

  • Pay Scale

    • Pay Level: 6 (7th Pay Commission)
    • Basic Pay: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 per month

  • Net In-Hand Salary

    • After deductions (like NPS, income tax, etc.), the net in-hand salary is around ₹44,000 to ₹48,000 per month.
