Stenographer Grade

Purpose

  • The SSC Multitasking Staff (MTS) and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) exams are conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for the recruitment of candidates in various central government departments and organizations. Below are the details regarding these exams, including the eligibility criteria, selection process, syllabus, and other key information.

Elgibility Criteria

  • Eligibility Criteria

    • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 12th standard or equivalent from a recognized board or university.
    • Age Limit:
      • Grade C: 18 to 30 years
      • Grade D: 18 to 27 years
      • Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms for reserved categories.

Exam Structure

  • Paper 1 (Computer-Based Test):
    • Candidates will be assessed based on their performance in the objective-type test.
    • There will be a cut-off score for the Paper 1, which will vary based on factors like the number of vacancies and difficulty level of the exam.
  • Paper 2 (Skill Test):
    • Candidates who qualify Paper 1 (based on cut-off marks) will be eligible for the skill test.
    • Paper 2 is qualifying in nature—the candidates must meet the required shorthand speed to qualify for the final selection.

Selection Process

Paper 1 (Computer-Based Test):

Final Merit List:

  • A final merit list is prepared based on candidates’ performance in Paper 1 and the qualifying criteria for Paper 2.

Syllabus

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: Logical reasoning, puzzles, number series, coding-decoding, etc.
  • General Awareness: Current events, history, geography, polity, economy, and science.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and data interpretation.
  • English Language: Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills.

Salary and Benefits

  • Stenographer Grade C

    • Pay Level: 7 (₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400)
    • Gross Salary: ₹45,000 – ₹55,000 per month (approx.)
    • Benefits: HRA, Medical allowances, Travel Allowances, Pension under NPS, and more.

    Stenographer Grade D

    • Pay Level: 4 (₹25,500 – ₹81,100)
    • Gross Salary: ₹30,000 – ₹35,000 per month (approx.)
    • Benefits: Similar to Grade C, including allowances and benefits as per government norms.
