Central Armed Police Service

Purpose

  • The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) recruitment through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) refers to the CAPF Assistant Commandant (AC) Exam. This is a national-level exam conducted by UPSC to recruit officers for the rank of Assistant Commandant in various CAPFs under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Application Process

  • Apply online through the UPSC website (upsc.gov.in).
  • Application fee: ₹200 (Exempted for female/SC/ST/PwBD candidates).

Elgibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen.
    • Age Limit: 20 to 25 years (relaxation for reserved categories as per government norms).
    • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
    • Physical Standards: Candidates must meet specified physical and medical standards.

Exam Structure

  • Paper I : General ability and intelligence
  • Current Events: National and international importance, including sports and culture.
  • Indian Polity and Economy: Constitution, governance, economic development, and public policies.
  • History and Geography: Indian history, freedom struggle, and world geography.
  • Paper II: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension
    • Essay Writing: Topics on polity, economy, security, and current issues.
    • Comprehension: Reading and answering comprehension-based questions.
    • Grammar and language skills.

Selection Process

  1. Written Examination
    • Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence (Objective type, 250 marks).
    • Paper II: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension (Descriptive type, 200 marks).
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Medical Test
    • Physical tests to assess endurance, including running, long jump, and high jump.
    • Medical examination to ensure fitness.
  3. Personality Test/Interview
    • Candidates who clear the PET and medical test are called for an interview (150 marks).

  • Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence

    • General Mental Ability: Logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, numerical ability, and data interpretation.
    • General Science: Scientific developments, environmental issues, and technology.
  • Paper II: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension

    • Essay Writing: Topics on polity, economy, security, and current issues.
    • Comprehension: Reading and answering comprehension-based questions.

Salary and Benefits

  • Basic Pay : 56,100 per month
  • Dearness Allowance (DA): ₹9,537 (17% of Basic Pay)
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): ₹13,464 (for Class X city, 24% of Basic Pay)
  • Transport Allowance (TA): ₹3,600 to ₹7,200
  • Other Allowances (Uniform, Special Duty, etc.)
  • Gross Salary ₹85,000 – ₹90,000 per month
