Central Teacher Eligibility Test
Purpose
- The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It is mandatory for candidates who wish to teach in Central Government Schools like Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other institutions under the Central Government, as well as in some private schools that choose to follow CTET as a benchmark for hiring teachers.
Application Process
- Candidates must apply online through the official TRB website.
- The application fee is generally required to be paid during the application process. The fee varies for general and reserved categories.
- Candidates should upload scanned copies of required documents, including their educational certificates, age proof, and photograph.
Elgibility Criteria
- For Paper I: 12th pass with a minimum of 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), or equivalent.
- For Paper II: Graduation and a 1-year B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) or equivalent qualification.
- No Upper Age Limit: There is no maximum age limit for candidates wishing to appear for the CTET exam.

Exam Structure
- Paper I – For candidates who wish to teach classes I to V (Primary Stage)
- Paper II – For candidates who wish to teach classes VI to VIII (Upper Primary Stage)
- Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer. No negative marking for incorrect answers
Selection Process
- CTET Exam: Candidates must appear for and pass the CTET exam.
- Application for Jobs: Apply for teaching positions in schools that require CTET certification.
Screening: Schools will screen candidates based on their CTET score and educational qualifications. - Written Exam (if applicable): Some schools may conduct their own written exams or tests.
Interview/Demonstration Lesson: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview or demonstration.

- Child Development and Pedagogy: Understanding the psychology of children, developmental stages, learning processes, teaching methodologies, inclusive education, etc.
- Language Proficiency: Assessment of language skills (both the regional language and English), reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills.

Salary and Benefits
- PRT (Primary Teacher): ₹45,000 to ₹50,000 per month.
TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher): ₹55,000 to ₹65,000 per month.
