TRB Special Teachers Exam

Purpose

  • The TRB Special Teachers Exam is conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) of Tamil Nadu for the recruitment of Special Teachers in government schools. These Special Teachers are employed to teach subjects such as Art, Music, Craft, Dance, Physical Education, and Sewing at the primary and secondary school levels.

Application Process

  • Candidates must apply online through the official TRB website.
  • The application fee is generally required to be paid during the application process. The fee varies for general and reserved categories.
  • Candidates should upload scanned copies of required documents, including their educational certificates, age proof, and photograph.

Elgibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: A candidate must have a degree in BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications), B.Sc. (Computer Science), B.Tech (Computer Science), MCA (Master of Computer Applications), or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
  • Age Limit: The age limit may vary, but generally, the upper age limit is 57 years for general category candidates. Relaxation in age is provided for reserved categories as per the government norms.
  • Other Qualifications: Depending on the subject, certain diplomas or certifications may also be required, such as a B.Ed in Special Education or similar qualifications.

Exam Structure

  • Written Exam:  General Knowledge and Education.
  • Paper II: Subject-Specific (based on the subject chosen by the candidate)
  • Interview: After the written exam, shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview or document verification. This round assesses the teaching abilities, subject knowledge, and overall personality of the candidate.

Selection Process

  • After the exam, the TRB releases a result on its website. Candidates who clear the written exam are shortlisted for the interview or counseling.
  • The final merit list is prepared based on the written exam marks, interview (if applicable), and other criteria specified in the official notification.
  • Document Verification: After the final selection, candidates must undergo document verification to ensure that all educational qualifications and other details are authentic.

Syllabus

  • General Knowledge: General Studies and Aptitude – This paper tests the general knowledge, reasoning ability, and basic English skills of the candidates.
  • Subject-Specific :(Art,Music, Physical Education, Craft, Sewing.)

Salary and Benefits

  • Pay Scale:  The basic pay for a newly recruited Special Teacher typically ranges between ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 per month (Level 11 of the Tamil Nadu Government Pay Matrix).
  •  Basic pay: the Grade Pay (which is part of the overall pay) is also applicable. Special Teachers may be placed in a specific grade based on their qualifications and experience.
