TRB Graduate Assistant Exam

Purpose

The TRB Graduate Assistant Exam is conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) of Tamil Nadu for the recruitment of Graduate Assistants in government higher secondary schools. Graduate Assistants are responsible for teaching various subjects at the higher secondary level (11th and 12th grades) and are required to have a degree in the relevant subject along with a B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification.

Candidates must apply online through the official TRB website.
The application fee is generally required to be paid during the application process. The fee varies for general and reserved categories.
Candidates should upload scanned copies of required documents, including their educational certificates, age proof, and photograph.

Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree: You need to have a Bachelor’s Degree in the subject you want to teach (like Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English, etc.).
Age Limit: General Candidates: You should be under 40 years old when applying.
Age Relaxation: If you’re from a reserved category like SC/ST or MBC, you can have an extra 5 years of age.

Written Exam: Objective Type Questions (Multiple Choice Questions).
The total number of questions and the time allotted may vary, but typically there are 150 questions (in most cases).
Interview: After the written exam, shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview or document verification. This round assesses the teaching abilities, subject knowledge, and overall personality of the candidate.

After the exam, the TRB releases a result on its website. Candidates who clear the written exam are shortlisted for the interview or counseling.
The final merit list is prepared based on the written exam marks, interview (if applicable), and other criteria specified in the official notification.
Document Verification: After the final selection, candidates must undergo document verification to ensure that all educational qualifications and other details are authentic.

General Knowledge: General Studies and Aptitude – This paper tests the general knowledge, reasoning ability, and basic English skills of the candidates.

Pay Scale: The basic salary for a Graduate Assistant is typically in the range of ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400 per month (depending on the pay level).
